Current estimates calculate that more than 80 million Americans suffer from varicose veins and/or spider veins. While cosmetic improvement is often a factor in seeking treatment of varicose veins, Emory Healthcare understands that relief from pain is often the patient’s primary concern. We provide the most comprehensive therapies available for the treatment of varicose veins and other venous disorders to ensure that aesthetic and discomfort symptoms are addressed simultaneously, effectively and safely.

Since vein disorders are not always visible, the diagnostic services available at Emory Healthcare are essential to determining cause and severity, the primary method being duplex ultrasound imaging, which uses sound waves to trace the patient’s blood flow.

Once the diagnosis has been established, there are two primary modes of treatment for varicose veins: the conservative approach, which can involve such low-impact methods as compression stockings to support and compress veins and improve circulation; or the corrective approach, which applies procedures like sclerotherapy, endolaser ablation or phlebectomy. In most cases, a combination of treatment methods for varicose veins is advised.

Attend on of our free informational seminars to learn how to treat your varicose veins safely and effectively.
